Keep it safe at the festival
Hopefully the weather gods will smile upon this year’s edition of the GMM. If that’s the case, please do not underestimate the intensity of the sun. Wear a cap and sunglasses and rapply sun cream at frequent intervals. Take some time to chill if you got too hot from headbanging or from all the pushing and shoving in front of the stage. Sweating means loss of fluids. Drink water or soft drinks at regular intervals to restore your fluid levels. Alcohol, energy drinks and drugs have a dehydrating effect and you can’t subsist on beer alone. That’s why you need to drink water or a soft drink at regular intervals. Beer will not restore your fluid levels, quite the opposite!
ADVISE: Drink a few glasses of water before you go to sleep. You may avoid a hangover this way.
The water from the wash basins campsite is drinkable!

Protect your ears
Graspop Metal Meeting respects noise pollution legislation. The use of top notch sound equipment enables GMM to combine superior sound quality with acceptable noise levels. Nevertheless, it’s always a good idea to play it safe. Stroll over to the info desk and ask for a pair of earplugs if you’re looking to give your ears a rest. A golden tip!

Beware of pickpockets
More and more festivals are being targeted by pickpockets. Store your valuables in a safe place and do not keep your wallet in your back pocket.

Safety in front and in the neighbourhood of the stage
An explicit ban on crowd surfing
Graspop Metal Meeting has, like every other big festival in Europe, issued an explicit ban on crowd surfing. People who ignore this rule will be removed from the field. The reasons for this ban are crystal clear: people in the front rows will be able to enjoy the shows without constantly having to protect their heads and limbs, overall pleasantness and safety will increase, and the risk for injuries will be considerably lower.

Safety corridors

Just like the previous years the same constructions will be installed in front of the stages to improve the visitors’ comfort and safety The safety corridors are made of a solid construction of freestanding barriers, which allow safety personnel and emergency services to carry out possible evacuations or interventions way out in the crowd without disturbing the rest of the crowd. They are installed in a way that they also absorb part of the crowd’s forward and sideway pressure.

Videoscreens
Videoscreens on the side of the main stage give people in the back the possibility to enjoy and to see what is happening on the stage. So you don't have to stand in front to fully enjoy the festival.
